Netflix Design Show

In the design world my sister and I long ago watched this couple make their rise in the industry. First we saw them at a small design conference, then Instagram, then their own retail shop, a design shop, a furniture line at Target and now a SHOW!!

Syd and Shea McGee take us through home renovation projects. The part I liked the most is they show the process of building their own home (which is amazing). They show a home across the street from their build which has an unrelatable budget and finally the remodel of a family space in a modest home.

I watched her pack up her plates in her rental house and loved knowing that I have the very same Crate & Barrel plates. Honestly, I did get inspired and I hope you will as well.

Enjoy!!

Staging Vignettes

Just showing off some of our staging jobs. We do favor blue… It’s the color of the sea and the sky and is thought to induce calm and convey serenity and peace. Yup! That’s what we were going for.

Thought For the Day

Each morning I get a note of wisdom from Tut.com. Marinate in this….

When you think a new thought, entertain a new dream, or mentally choose a new goal, your thoughts "leave" you and go out — in every direction — to the farthest corners of the planet. They carry a life force all their own, like ripples created when a pebble is tossed into a pond.   You can't change this but you can totally use the heck out of it.

Think good thoughts,

The Universe

WE ARE BACK...BUT IT'S DIFFERENT

It is amazing what a crisis will do to a business. We learn how much people mean to us, how much we value our employees and sub-contractors, what works in our company now and what does not work. We have scaled back, become dependent on our inventory system, built a deeper trust in our peeps to perform efficiently when we are not present , changed our work hours, our procedures, our lives.

On we go…

Wanted to share this incredible townhouse. Not your typical newer construction townhouse. This has enormous bedrooms, large living and dining and a media room as well.

Our Tips on Hanging Art

Ask these Stager Girls how to hang art-we’ve got answers!

We sometimes have up to 32 pieces of art to hang each day on the job. Of course we have some hard fast rules but we also just go with our gut. Here are some of our tips:

HANG ARTWORK AT EYE LEVEL.

A standard height for hanging art is with the center 57” above the floor.

Above a sofa or table the bottom of the art should be 6-8” above the furniture.

We go with 5” above a mantle

Spacing between pieces is 3” to 6”

When we have groupings we arrange them on the floor first and make sure we like the combination.

And finally, a few simple tools helps us get the job done.
