Mother's Day Love

Mother's Day is a special day to celebrate the women who have given us life, love, and guidance. Let's not forget the countless hours, sleepless nights, and selfless sacrifices that our mothers have made for us throughout our lives. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you, Mom, for all that you do. And while no gift can truly express our gratitude, it's the thought and effort that count. So go ahead and splurge on that spa day or fancy dinner, but don't forget to give your mom a hug and tell her how much she means to you. And if all else fails, a handwritten card and a bouquet of flowers never hurt. Happy Mother's Day, Mom! P.S. Please don't ask us to do any yard work on your special day.

Get Our Look!

Sometimes we kick ourselves for not taking a moment to take in the fabulous views some of our staging jobs provide. Definitely a perk of the biz. So here we are in beautiful Clyde Hill with water and city views. Just need to remember to look up!

Christmas Creations

My friend J and I went foraging for branches, cones, twigs and berries for our holiday creations. Here are the results.

I used an old tarnished coffee pot for my vessel.

J used a narrow orchid container. We weighed it down with rocks inside. My sweet cats keep attacking the birds so I have to make it sturdy.

Another vintage vessel from my Grandma.
J used a pretty glass container.

Crazy Cool Talent

Artist Amy Duncan has an amazing eye for junk transformation. She creates wonderful pieces that seem to have lived another life-well I guess they have. First the junk then the art.  Amy's blog helps you understand her better and her talent in the creative department. But with any blog one needs to keep it going (hint hint Amy).  I know what a commitment a blog is.

I just found out that she has a book! I am telling you- she's brilliant!

Below are a few photos of treasures I have collected from her over the years.

This only skims the surface of all of the fab things Amy creates.

Seattle Shopping

A not-to-miss shop in Seattle is Watson Kennedy. You will go crazy for the displays all organized by color. The green section with glass, dishes, soaps, cards and more will send you. The lovely little blue section will keep you lingering through the layers of blue watercolors, file folders, jewels, stationery and trinkets. Little vintage jars of buttons, scrabble letters, typewriter bracelets and candles are all sprinkled throughout the shop . The owner, Ted Watson, has an incredible eye for treasures.

He sells this lovely chandelier and writes how it hangs in his entry and it is the first thing he turns on in the morning and the last to go off at night. I too have one in my entry and feel very much the same way. It sheds such beautiful light. It is very much worth the splurge.

Another piece I own. This white ceramic vase holds a plant for me but in the shop he inspires you to use it in ways you never thought of before.

Here again is one of my favorite artists Cody Blomberg. I was thrilled to see he found his way into this divine store. You will discover these beautiful paintings in the bird section of the shop and hanging upon the  trompe l'oiel branch. I just received another one for my birthday and am hoping for just one more so I can have a pretty trio.

I had a chance to meet Ted yesterday after my visit to the Seattle Art Museum. We lamented over the loss of domino magazine and other home/shelter mags. Wonderful man and very glad to see him still at the store.

Happy Shopping Everyone....

Loving Art

Complete sweetness!

I came across this artist's work in a tiny shop in Wallingford. Fell head over heels in love with his collection of bird paintings. My personal piece measures only about 8"x 8". It sweetly sits on my "alter" where I admire it while standing at my sink cleaning up after a family feeding. It's a quiet visual for me and brings me a ton of joy. And what fun to own original art.

He will also paint a portrait of your pet. They are so cute on his website and blog.
